I recently purchased a new B&M Michigan Desk so that I could work from home having just moved house.
And whilst in the same store, I also decided to buy the B&M Fast Traxx Pro Performance Executive Chair because my current home office chair was making a horrible squeaking sound each time I sat forwards or backwards.
I had looked at some more expensive options online but I decided to take the risk and buy this cheap home office chair for £65 mainly because of the convenience factor – I wanted to be able to set the chair up quickly and get back to work rather than wait around for a few days for my online order to show up.
However, having bought cheap home furniture before, I knew this was a bit of a risk because it’s quite easy to end up with a low-quality product that makes noise, is difficult to assemble, and/or has parts missing.
And my honest B&M Fast Traxx Pro Performance Executive Chair review below reveals my experience of setting up and using this chair first-hand to help you decide if this is the right chair for you.
Here’s a screenshot of my sales receipt to prove that I have actually bought this Fast Traxx Chair with my own money:

Fast Traxx Pro Performance Executive Chair Review
To summarise, the B&M Fast Traxx Pro Performance Executive Chair is a strong, sturdy, and comfortable chair that’s very well priced and is suitable for home office use, studying, and gaming – with limitations on the weight it can hold (100 kg) and the amount of neck/head support (none).

How to Assemble the Fast Traxx Executive Chair
The in-package instructions show you how to set up the Fast Traxx Chair in 8 steps.
Below are my thoughts/feedback on the 5 main phases of assembly to help provide some clarity if you’re struggling with the standard setup instructions.
1: Base
Assembling the base is pretty easy; all you need to do is push the castor rods into the 5 pronged base (a rubber mallet may be helpful here) before inserting the hydraulic/pneumatic rod into the centre hole and placing the extendable plastic sheath over it (as per the photo below):

2: Seat
The next step is to attach the metal base unit with the adjustable lever to the bottom of the seat using the screws with the K label – make sure that you line up the ‘front’ sticker with the ‘front’ label on the chair.

3: Back Rest
To attach the back rest to the base of the chair, you’ll need to use the slightly longer J screws to reach through the two layers of metal.
This was the most awkward part of the assembly process because I had to get the angle of the back rest just right.
And I discovered after much struggle that one of the holes wasn’t compatible with any of the screws – so I had to complete the chair with one less screw than advised.

4: Arm Rests
Attaching the arm rests to the seat and back rest is done using the longest ‘I’ screws and pushing the L caps over the top.
I found that one of the L caps was deformed and wouldn’t fit into the holes so I had to discard it.
5: Completion
With the base and the seat now complete, all you need to do is place the seat on top of the hydraulic/pneumatic unit and you may then use the lever to adjust the height of the chair in conjunction with your body weight as you sit in it.

Performance Analysis
Here’s my feedback on how I personally feel that the B&M Fast Traxx Chair performs relative to some key areas based on my own personal experience:
1: Transportability of Package
I was easily able to carry the 61cm x 56cm x 26cm box out of the store without a trolley and fit it in the boot of my small Toyota Aygo car with the seats down (so that I could also fit the larger Michigan Desk box too).
2: Ease of Assembly
Overall, I found the B&M Fast Traxx Chair fairly easy to set up – the base and handles only took a few minutes, whilst the most challenging part was aligning the back rest with the holes on the seat in order to complete the upper portion of the chair.
This was made more frustrating due to one of the screw holes being defective – I actually had to disassemble a large portion of the chair in order to check that the screw hole was indeed defective and not through my own fault of cross-threading the screws or misaligning the parts.
For non-defective versions of this chair, I would say that most people of average strength and dexterity should have minimal issues with the assembly process.
3: Tools Required
I was able to assemble the B&M Fast Traxx Chair with just the Allen key provided – although you may find a rubber mallet useful to knock the wheels into the base of the chair (one was quite difficult to push into place with just my hands but the rest went in no problem).
4: Assembly Time
It took me just over 45 minutes to assemble the B&M Fast Traxx Chair due to me having to disassemble a large portion of the chair to try and solve the issue with the defective screw hole.
I estimate that in non-defective models, it would take a single, able-bodied adult 20-30 minutes to assemble the B&M Fast Traxx Chair from unboxing to completion.
5: Clarity of Instructions
I found the assembly instructions for the B&M Fast Traxx Chair fairly easy to follow.
The part where I got confused was when I mixed up the I and J screws (which is my own fault due to not paying close enough attention, the instructions clearly label where these screws should go).
6: Quality of Parts
Overall, the quality of the parts in the box that I bought were of fair quality – with one of the screw holes where the backrest and the base attach being defective (either the wrong thread type had been inserted or the diameter was too short) and one of the L caps that covers the screw heads on the armrests was deformed and unusable.
7: Quality of the Finished Product
Despite the issues with the screw hole and the L caps, the completed chair was surprisingly sturdy and free from any creaking or squeaking – I weigh about 82 kg and the B&M Fast Traxx Chair can support my weight without issue.
8: Comfort
I find the B&M Fast Traxx Chair to be very comfortable when sitting both upright and when leaning back to work at my desk.
The back of the chair stops fairly high up on the mid part of my back (I’m 5′ 8″) so this chair might be too shallow for you if you’re much taller and/or are a gamer/someone who likes to recline and experience full head/neck support.
9: Arm Rest Height
Because the B&M Fast Traxx Chair has an adjustable height, the peak of the arm-rests varies from 60 cm in the fully depressed position to 72cm in the maximally extended position.
This is important if you need a chair that can tuck away under your desk.
In my case, I found that the B&M Fast Traxx Chair wouldn’t fit under the B&M Michigan Desk that I bought at the same time – the arm rests made the chair around 2 cm too tall in the fully depressed position.
10: Décor Suitability
The B&M Fast Traxx Chair is available in black/grey and black/red with a sleek and ‘sporty’ look (thanks to the air vent that mirrors a racing seat) that will complement a professional-looking home office, study, or gaming set up.
11: Warranty
I wasn’t able to find out any information on the warranty for the B&M Fast Traxx Chair.
12: Returns
If you bought the B&M Fast Traxx Chair in-store, then you can return it for a full refund or replacement if you bring the product back to the store in its original condition with proof of purchase within 30 days at the time of writing (see full terms).
Pros
Based on my experience with the B&M Fast Traxx Chair, here are my personal thoughts on the positive aspects of this product:
- Sturdy – even with one of the screws missing, I personally find this chair to be strong and supportive of my 82 kg body weight.
- Quiet – my B&M Fast Traxx Chair is completely silent during sitting, turning, leaning forwards, and leaning backwards.
- Sleek design – the B&M Fast Traxx Chair looks cool and professional with a sporty touch; I would have gone for the red accent colours if I’d seen that option in-store.
- Well priced – this is a very fairly priced chair at just £65 and significantly cheaper than many other home office chairs that I looked at online.
Cons
Based on my own experience of assembling and using the B&M Fast Traxx Chair that I bought, here are some of the points to consider before purchasing in my opinion:
- 100 kg weight limit – as sturdy as this chair is, it’s not designed to support weights in excess of 100 kg (220 lbs).
- No neck support – if you’re a gamer that likes to rest all the way back in your chair then this might not be that comfortable in the B&M Fast Traxx Chair because there’s no extended neck/head support.
- Defects possible – whilst not likely to be present in every purchase, I was unlucky enough to buy a B&M Fast Traxx Chair that came with a defective screw hole and deformed screw caps (so hang on to your receipt).
Who Should Buy This Chair?
I personally think that the B&M Fast Traxx Chair is a great purchase if you’re looking for a cheap yet strong and comfortable working chair for your study, bedroom, home office, or home school environment.
Conclusion: Surprisingly Sturdy and Comfortable
Despite the defective parts that were present in my purchase, I still think that the B&M Fast Traxx Pro Performance Executive Chair is a solid and comfortable chair that’s very well priced.
Overall, I’d recommended the B&M Fast Traxx Chair for more budget conscious shoppers.
