I recently had the opportunity to sleep on a 19 momme fitted sheet and pillowcase (sold separately) from LilySilk that contains 100% real Mulberry silk.
However, bedding that contains 100% Mulberry silk is known for being more costly than bedding that contains other materials.
So should you buy silk bedding from LilySilk?
You should consider buying 100% Mulberry silk bedding from LilySilk if you have allergies, sleep hot, are an age-conscious sleeper that needs good skincare, or need to move around easily in bed because the Mulberry silk is hypoallergenic, hydrating, soft, and regulates your temperature.
In the rest of this review, I look at the specifics of the LilySilk 19 momme fitted sheet and pillowcases to give you a better idea of the pros and cons.
This should help you decide if this is a good purchase for you or not.

Recommended For
- Age concious sleepers – if you are looking to avoid wrinkles, fine lines, and help look after your skin, then these LilySilk pillow cases and fitted sheet are ideal because the sericin protein content can help your skin to retain moisture.
- Combination sleepers – the slippery feeling makes it very easy to move around in a bed that has the LilySilk fitted sheet on it.
- Warmer sleepers – the temperature regulating properties of the Mulberry silk means that if you sleep hot, these LilySilk pillow cases and fitted sheet can help to keep you cool thanks to the breathable materials.
Not Recommended For
- Sleepers that don’t like a slippery feel – the soft and slippery feeling that silk bed sheets create can take a bit of getting used to if you’re used to the abrasive feel of regular cotton sheets.
Pros
- Good for your skin and hair – the Mulberry silk contains the sericin protein created by the Bombyx mori silkworm that helps to minimize water loss from the skin and thus potentially confer anti-ageing properties (source).
- Strong and durable – the 400 thread count and 100% Mulberry silk material means that the sheet and pillow cases are durable and long lasting.
- Can help to regulate your temperature – the Mulberry silk can help to keep you cool and warm you up because the material can retain heat but is also very breathable. This makes it a good choice for sleeping comfortably year-round and is a great addition to a cooling mattress.
- Good for allergies – the Mulberry silk is hypoallergenic which means that there’s a very low chance that you will experience an allergic reaction when sleeping on these sheets and pillow cases.
- Good for sensitive skin – the Mulberry silk is very soft which makes it an excellent choice if you have sensitive skin or conditions like eczema.
- Well priced – silk sheets are notoriously expensive, however, I found these LilySilk pillow cases and fitted sheet to be relatively well priced.
Cons
- Requires careful washing – silk is notorious for needing careful washing, but these LilySilk pillow cases and fitted sheet can be machine washed in lukewarm water at 30°C on a gentle cycle. It’s recommended that you use a special silk detergent.
- Slippery feeling – the silk material means that sleeping on the LilySilk fitted sheet and pillow cases feels very slippy. This can be an advantage for combination sleepers that need to switch positions often but it can also mean that your pillows shoot off the bed! A solution here is to pair either the silk pillow cases with a cotton fitted sheet or vice versa to create some grip.
My Experience
- Cool to the touch but warming as required – when I first got into bed, I noticed that the fitted sheet felt almost cold (which wasn’t ideal given that it’s winter at the time of writing). However after a few minutes, I noticed that I had warmed up to a comfortable temperature. This is because the LilySilk sheets contain Mulberry silk which can regulate your temperature depending on your body heat.
- Very easy to move around in – the slippy feel of the silk took a bit of getting used to if I’m honest. But it did mean that I could switch positions very easily due to the lack of friction. This complemented the Puffy Lux Hybrid mattress that I was using the sheets with to provide good pressure relief and mobility at the same time.
- No allergies or irritation – I have hay fever, a dust mite allergy, and dry skin. These conditions haven’t bothered me whilst sleeping on the LilySilk sheet and pillow case set.
Conclusion: A Worthy Investment
Whilst silk bed sheets and pillowcases are typically more costly than regular cotton sheets, the qualities of the silk makes it a good choice if you’re worried about your skin, have allergies, or need to sleep cooler/warmer at night.
I would recommend the LilySilk 19 momme fitted sheet and pillowcases because they are 100% Mulberry silk to ensure the highest quality and they are relatively well priced.
